Grey Lynn

What it is

Tucked just off Dryden Street within the broad green expanse of Grey Lynn Park, this community-built pump track has earned its place as a well-loved local fixture. Five connected lanes create long, flowing loops with enough variety to keep riders coming back, and the design handles a wide spread of ability levels — from kids still on trainer wheels to adults who ride with genuine speed.

A real draw is watching parents clamber on alongside their children, with balance bikes, pedal bikes, and BMX all sharing the track in easy rotation. Absolute beginners may find it a little busy and fast-moving, but for anyone past the very first stages, the layout rewards repeated laps. Scooters are not suited to the surface. Toilets and a water fountain sit close by, a basketball court and adult exercise equipment round out the site, and a playground with a paddling pool can be found at the far end of the park near Williamson Avenue.

Grey Lynn Park also offers sports fields, off-leash dog areas, and paths to wander — plenty to fill the time between laps.

Kids love it! Only if you bring bikes... otherwise, the playground is quite basic.

Heaps of bumps for kids and adults who like ups and downs, no tables but there are benches. Not much shade so recommend sunscreen

Neat lil pump track! Been here a few times now with the kids. Gave it a whirl myself and it didn't disappoint. Haven't found another one that's comparable yet.
