Every suburb has a playground; these are the ones worth driving to. Destination playgrounds justify the trip with something ordinary parks do not have — a proper flying fox, water play in summer, or equipment that holds older kids as well as toddlers.

Most are council parks and free to use; a few are indoor play centres or sit inside a paid attraction, and the price is on each listing. Where a playground is fenced or has a separate toddler area we have noted it, because with a runner that single detail decides whether the visit is relaxing or not.
