Takapuna Beach Sunday Market

One of Auckland's longest-running community markets, held every Sunday morning of the year in Waiwharariki Anzac Square, a block back from the sand at Takapuna Beach. It is the North Shore's biggest weekly farmers' market: growers with the week's fruit and vegetables, bread and pastries, flowers by the bucket, honey and preserves, and a run of makers selling craft, jewellery and secondhand finds. Food trucks and coffee carts sit along one side, and there are tables and grass to eat on, so a wander through the stalls turns into breakfast without much planning. It suits small children well — the square is flat, level and closed to traffic, the crowd moves slowly, and there is usually music playing somewhere in it. Many stalls take cash only, and the beach and its playground are a two-minute walk away when the shopping is done.

Takapuna Sunday Market is such a great weekend vibe! Amazing variety of stalls — from fresh flowers and artisan foods to handmade crafts and delicious pastries. This market is absolutely amazing — seriously, don’t let the first small section fool you! It may look limited at first glance, but make sure you walk further and explore. The market is actually much bigger than you think, spreading out along different parts of the beach. Take your time and really wander around — that’s when you’ll discover how vibrant and diverse it truly is. I especially recommend a Korean food stall (I believe it’s called Grace). Their kimbap was incredible, and the Korean stir-fried glass noodles (japchae) and fish cakes were unbelievably delicious. Honestly, some of the best I’ve had! Definitely come hungry and be ready to explore — it’s so worth it.

Highly recommend if you’re in Takapuna on a Sunday. Beautiful Market. Nicely laid out and plenty of places to sit and eat. Lots of beautiful fresh produce and genuine good vibes. Also BEST dumplings I’ve ever had by an elderly couple that I also bought from @ Otara Saturday Market

Lovely Atmosphere and Great Artisan Finds! A really pleasant Sunday market with a wonderful, relaxed atmosphere. It's set up along a modern paved walkway which is lovely to stroll through. There's a great selection of stalls selling all sorts of artisan goods and unique items. I saw lots of beautiful handmade jewellery, pet accessories, plants, and more, alongside several tempting food stalls. It's worth noting that, at least during my winter visit, there weren't many fresh vegetable stalls, so it's perhaps more of a craft and food market at this time of year. For parking, I was lucky to find a spot on Hurstmere Road, but be aware that it has time limits. If you plan on staying for a while to explore, you might want to look for a car park with longer-stay options. The location is excellent, with plenty of coffee shops nearby to grab a drink or breakfast. Overall, a great way to spend a Sunday morning!
