What it is
Held every Saturday morning in the car park behind Ōtara Town Centre, this market is one of Auckland's great weekly rituals. Stallholders are set up and selling from 6am, so early risers get the pick of fresh fruit and vegetables, homemade jams, seedlings, and plants before the crowds thicken.
Kids tend to make a beeline for the food — island doughnuts, fried bread, bacon and egg rolls, churros, and pork buns among them — while grown-ups browse new and second-hand clothing, urban streetwear, church and designer pieces, shoes, jewellery, and bric-a-brac. The cultural heart of the market lies in its Māori, Samoan, Tongan, and Niuean arts: tapa cloth, pounamu, bone carvings, kete, korowai, and custom-made headpieces sit alongside Polynesian music.
It suits families who enjoy a genuine community atmosphere rather than a curated weekend event — the sort of place where the browsing, the eating, and the people-watching all carry equal weight.
What other parents say
Awesome atmosphere. Cheap vegetables for sale. A great variety of vegetables as well. A lot of Chinese toys, jewelry, and different varieties of clothing.
Great choice of fresh fruit and vegetables & great quality also. Lots of yummy food so it's a good place for brekky or brunch while you're there.

It was very enjoyable. Some great bargains and different variety of food to eat and try. Very packed with people. And long rows to go down and see all the different stalls. We parked away from the market and walked a little distance to it. Wasn't it all that far to walk.
Great vibe! You can find all the fresh fruits, veggies, and daily essentials here. I love visiting every Saturday when I have time.
It is still the best marketplace for me after 1 year of going here every Saturday. Lots of fresh veggies and fruits. Mobile phone accessories , clothes, and car accessories. Yummy and tasty food with lots of options. Also got cooking utensils. Lots of parking available though might have to wait if you planning to go after 10am. Opens from morning till 1pm. Recommend to take your shopping bag. Most sellers have card options, but I always prefer taking cash.
