Quick Play Arcade

Quick Play is the sort of arcade that does not try to be a day out on its own, and works the better for it. The machines run on tokens and the mix is deliberately broad — driving cabinets with proper seats, air hockey, basketball hoops, a photo booth and a wall of prize machines — so children of quite different ages can each find something rather than queue behind one another. The Ormiston room is one of three the operator runs around Auckland, and it sits inside the town centre rather than off on its own, which makes it a natural half hour either side of a film or a supermarket shop. It is a self-service room, with tokens coming from a machine on the wall rather than a counter, so it helps to settle on how many games the group wants before starting.
