Eden Garden
Tucked into an abandoned quarry on the eastern slopes of Mt Eden, Eden Garden began in 1964 when a horticulturist and fifteen volunteers set about transforming an overgrown wilderness into what is now a 2.25-hectare national showplace. The paths themselves tell the story — many are named after the society members who built them — and the mature planting that lines them has been tended by volunteers ever since.

What it is
The 5.5 acres carry splendid collections of camellias, azaleas and rhododendrons, along with jacarandas, magnolias, pohutukawas, maples and Poor Knights lilies, arranged so that something is always coming into flower. Eco-friendly weed control encourages geckos, wetas, butterflies and birds to move freely through the garden, giving children plenty to spot between the blooms.
A café sits on site, and the garden operates as a charitable organisation, with admission fees going directly back into its upkeep. Families looking for a genuinely peaceful few hours close to the city centre will find the pace here a welcome change.

Lovely way to celebrate any special occassion. Hired the Garden Room and had 22 guests. Catered food was very nice and the table settings beautiful. Could have done with a little more attentiveness from the designated staff member eg. Juice jugs and milk refilled, extra plates and forks for cake. But overall I would definitely recommend this venue. The gardens themselves offer a sanctuary-like escape from the city.
A mini botanic Gardens that can be covered within an hour but alot cooler during this period of time , spring time. It's so colourful with its variety of flora and fauna. Alot hilly and undulating but achievable for seniors. By the way seniors 65 and above only pay NZ$8 whilst adult admission is NZ$12. This place is worth the visit , I strongly recommend and there is even a cafe inside , so after the walk you could have a great tea break 👍👍👍👌👌👌

Visited a week after the Tulip festival. Since I love tulips, really loved the place and the entrance fee was worth it for me. Very relaxing and nice place to walk around. Not that big but I can say every corner or area is so beautiful.
great garden for walks with wide variety of flowers and shrubs. real peaceful place with nice smaller walking paths.
Peaceful place for a walk and reflection. Memory plaques for family members. Some uphill and stairs. Good coffee at the cafe and friendly service
