What it is
A cat café in the middle of Newmarket, where the fee buys a time slot in the cats' room rather than a table in a café. A dozen or so resident cats have the run of the space, with shelves, tunnels and window perches at their height, and the staff brief you on the house rules first: let a cat come to you, no picking up, and no waking one that is asleep. That framing is what makes it work for children old enough to follow it, and what makes it a poor choice for a toddler who cannot. A drink is included and there is cake if you want it. Slots are booked ahead and the room is capped, so it never turns into a crowd, and the cats are rescues — several are usually looking for homes.
What other parents say
Such a cute and fun place for cat lovers! Upstair where the cats are is clean and spacious, the cats are soo cute, the ticket includes a drink from Maggie Bakery (downstairs), can buy a combo with a cake, which can only eat downstairs at Maggie Bakery. It’s overall a great experience.
I had the absolute best experience here, staff were so lovely, helpful and polite. The cats were awesome, each one had their own personality and all were happy to get a pat. The drink was really good and it was just a great time. I can’t wait to go back.

I had the best 50 minutes here in a very long time, it genuinely felt like a little pocket of joy. The cats are absolutely adorable (they stole my heart) and are clearly well cared for. The space itself is clean, cosy, and thoughtfully designed. I love that they provided treats for us to feed the cats, this made the experience very interactive and special. They also offered a complimentary drink of our choosing and a sweet surprise of a cat fridge magnet at the end. I’ll definitely visit again, the cats truly made my week.
Catfe Mao is an absolute delight for cat and animal lovers. While food isn’t allowed in the cat interaction area, drinks are permitted, and each booked time slot includes one complimentary beverage while you spend time with their adorable kitties. The space is thoughtfully and cosily decorated for both cats and humans, and it’s impressively clean and well organised. The staff member we met was incredibly enthusiastic about the café and its mission, and happily answered all our questions. The drinks are supplied by Maggie’s Bakery, located just downstairs—we tried the bubble tea and it was really good. Do note that the cat café itself is upstairs and there is no lift access. All in all, it’s a truly wonderful place. If you’re in need of some furry cuteness to lift your spirits, this spot is well worth a visit.
Best cat cafe I’ve been to. Kids loved it :) It was clean, spacious and not over crowded with people. A drink is included in price which was nice! The staff were nice and all of the cats were really friendly ! Would definitely recommend coming here! We will certainly be back :)
