What it is
Created by Musealia and Titanic historian Claes-Göran Wetterholm, this Auckland-exclusive season is built around the people on board rather than the disaster itself. Families can step inside life-size recreations of the ship's interiors — from first-class luxury to third-class simplicity — and explore hundreds of genuine artefacts including photographs, handwritten letters, and personal belongings that carry real human weight.
An audio guide narrates the events of that fateful night, threading individual passenger stories together into something closer to lived experience than a conventional display. The exhibition sits inside the historic Smith & Caughey's building on Queen Street, a setting that adds its own layer of atmosphere.
Older children with a taste for history will find plenty to absorb, and the life-size recreations give even younger visitors something tangible to connect with.
