What it is
Tucked into Auckland's CBD, Odysseum is an indoor venue built around immersive, hands-and-feet-on experiences that pull kids (and adults) well out of their comfort zones. The centrepiece is the Odyssey Sensory Maze — a sprawling, multi-room journey through themed environments that a TripAdvisor reviewer described as combining "sci-fi, ancient Egypt and Jules Verne-like exploration spaces". No two visits feel the same.
Beyond the maze, older kids and teens can tackle the Doom Room, where groups must survive six minutes and sixty-six seconds in near-total darkness, or take on Brain Cell, an escape-room-style challenge that pits a team against a rogue AI and a ticking reactor countdown. All three experiences are Auckland exclusives.
Families with a wide age spread tend to do well here — one reviewer brought a three-year-old who loved it, while the group challenges hold plenty for older children and grown-ups. It works equally well as a birthday party venue or a wet-weather fallback.
What other parents say
School holiday fun. Bought tickets online a week before hand. My kids are 8 and 9. Me and Husband enjoyed it too. We went into the sensory maze for an hour, did 2 rounds and we were done. Great family time. We travelled from Waikato. Well worth it, definitely look at planning your parking before you travel though.
Great fun, the kids loved it! Well worth doing, and taking your time in. Lots to see, feel, hear and even smell!

Took my two 4 year olds and my 2 year old for the first time tonight. They loved all the different rooms, the bright lights, the mirrors and were surprisingly very smart at finding their way through the maze for their age. Makes it easier for a mama taking them through on her own 😅 highly recommend!
We had a great time! We have a 3.5 year old who loooved it (and went around three times), a 2 year old who was a bit scared and needed a few cuddles to get through (but who also needed a nap) and a baby who happily stayed in the carrier. We (the parents) felt a bit old cos it was more physical than we expected, but overall it was awesome! Pretty expensive so we wouldn’t go back anytime soon but an awesome activity. Lots of fun!
Such a fun time! Took our 3.5yr old who absolutely had a blast and so did his parents. The staff are super lovely. I think the only downfall was trying to find the place, that's super hard to navigate. Our kid is already saying he wants to go again. Oh and definitely recommend the hour pass, we went through three times.
