What it is
Aotea Square hosts a day of surprise performances, with kapa haka, dance crews, brass bands, pipe bands and DJ sets appearing throughout. There's no set programme to follow — the idea is to wander, catch what comes, and let the city centre soundtrack wash over the family.
Dance-O-Mat, the outdoor dance floor, returns alongside the performances. Families connect a phone, pick a song, press the red button and dance. Whether the kids are seasoned movers or just learning to shimmy, there's plenty of room to cut loose on the floor.
