What it is
Stardome Observatory is Auckland’s premier space science centre, where you can explore the universe through immersive planetarium shows and real telescope viewing. It’s a fun and educational experience for all ages, bringing stars, planets, and deep space to life right in the city.
What other parents say
We are from Sydney and spent Christmas and New Years in Auckland and Wellington. We googled places to take kids and came across this place. I would highly recommend for families. 5/5 educational and affordable. We watched 2 shows on different days. The guy that works here is knowledgeable and friendly. Thank You for having us.
We came here for the psychedelic mixtape event. There was ample parking. The bathrooms were very clean. The staff were really friendly. The event was in the dome, the seats were slightly reclined and comfortable. The light show was incredible and I left feeling a awsome state of happy from the experience. Because the weather had clouded over, we were offered raincheck tickets to Come back and check out the telescopes. Good value.

Acually had such a blast as a 22 year old, went to one of the shows and I honestly cried it was so beautiful, my only gripe is such a small issue but struggled a tiny bit with the seats but gaf, absolutely cannot wait to come back !!!
Review for Stardome Observatory & Planetarium Rating: ★☆☆☆☆ Review: The booking system for this event is deeply flawed. I had placed a booking for my party and was operating under the understanding that attendance was confirmed for this evening. It was only upon calling the venue tonight that I was informed the booking was actually an application process with attendees selected at random. I never received any notification that my application had been unsuccessful, which resulted in a significant misunderstanding regarding our plans. While the staff member I spoke with was professional and apologetic, the current booking system lacks the necessary transparency and communication required for attendees. I strongly suggest that management reviews and addresses these administrative issues to ensure better clarity for future events.
Admission is $5 for people over 3 years old. We went on a rainy day. It was fun but very small. Without engagement a small child can speed through in under 10 minutes. I think you need to go in the evening and or for a planned movie feature to get the full effect of the planetarium. There is a small gift shop at the entrance.
