Silverdale Village Market
Location
7 Silverdale Street, Silverdale, Auckland 0932
About
The market has run in the same spot for years, spreading from the ground around the Silverdale Hall into the street beside it with a couple of dozen stalls. Growers bring fruit, vegetables, eggs and seedlings; alongside them are jam and preserve makers, oil and skincare producers, jewellers, knitters and a steady turnover of vintage and secondhand finds. It is small enough to walk in twenty minutes and level enough for a pushchair, which makes it a gentle first outing for families who want to be out early without committing to a whole day. Children tend to gravitate to the food stalls and the trays of seedlings, and there is usually something to taste. Coffee and baking are close at hand in the village shops. It runs every Saturday morning through the year, so the mix shifts week to week with the season.
