About
Settle beneath the tanoa in Te Ao Mārama as accomplished choreographer and 2023 Arts Laureate Sean MacDonald (Ngāti Kahungunu, Ngāti Raukawa) brings a whānau-friendly dance work to life in celebration of Matariki. Follow a group of friends as they journey across Aotearoa, exploring lush ngahere, mighty maunga, and majestic moana during this season of ritual and renewal.
Along the way, the spirits of all nine whetū of Matariki inhabit the performers, weaving together Māori tradition, storytelling, and vibrant movement in a truly special seasonal experience for the whole family.
