What it is
Kua Rewa te Aihikirīmi is a te reo Māori circus theatre show staged at Auckland Town Hall, built around a mission tamariki will immediately understand: get the ice creams home from Te Kao Store before they melt. Cheeky siblings Miro and Nikau lead the charge, and the story unfolds through aerial acrobatics, juggling, and a high-energy performance designed to keep young audiences gripped from start to finish.
The creative team behind the show includes director Tainui Tukiwaho, with story adaptation by Amber Curreen and translation by Maioha Allen. Performers Billy McCarthy, Eve Gordon, Joe Dekkers-Reihana, Mia van Oyen, and Mary Piggin bring the adventure to life on stage.
The show sits within a wider festival that offers free activities and experiences for curious young minds and their caregivers throughout.
