KBB Music Festival 2026

The KBB Music Festival has been a fixture on Auckland's musical calendar since 1983, growing into one of the region's largest showcases of young talent. Secondary school students from more than 50 schools across greater Auckland perform in orchestras, concert bands, jazz bands and chamber orchestras — the 40th festival alone drew over 4,500 students across 145 groups.

Each performance represents months of personal practice and group rehearsal, and the standard reflects it. For families in the audience, it is a genuine chance to hear young musicians at a high level, playing repertoire that spans classical and contemporary styles.

The festival runs across a full week in August, giving families plenty of opportunity to drop in and hear different ensembles perform.
