Shine for a Cure

Blood Cancer NZ's Shine for a Cure brings the community together for a 5km Lantern Walk through the Auckland Domain, each light carried standing for a life touched by blood cancer. It is the kind of evening that gives a shared purpose to the walk — honouring those lost, standing alongside those still fighting, and raising funds for research and support.

Families who fundraise $100 earn a lantern for the evening, making the glow of the walk something to work towards together in the lead-up.

The route through the Domain suits all ages, and the atmosphere — hundreds of lights moving through the dark — tends to stay with kids long after the walk is done.
