The Shed Collective Farmers' Market

The Shed Collective gathers up to 35 growers and makers every Saturday morning at a heritage apple shed on Parrs Cross Road, on the western edge of Henderson. Stalls sit under the shed roof and along the pergolas, so the market runs rain or shine, and the lawn and garden beside it give younger children room to move while the shopping gets done. The emphasis is on local, artisan, organic and spray-free food, which makes it a useful weekly stop rather than a novelty. Cosmic Garden Flower Farm grows seasonal wild flowers on the same site, so there is usually colour along the walk in. It is a small, unhurried market rather than a large one, and that suits families with a pram: a circuit takes half an hour, the produce for the week comes home in one bag, and there is grass to sit on afterwards.
