Smales Farm Sunday Market

Run by The Market Collaborative on the second Sunday of every month, this is the maker's end of the market spectrum rather than the grocer's: textiles, jewellery, ceramics, prints, homeware, secondhand finds and a good run of plant sellers, spread through the avenue of trees at Smales Farm alongside the Goodside eateries. Around a hundred stalls turn out, there is live music, and the food is the draw as much as the shopping — the permanent kitchens on site stay open alongside the stalls, so nobody has to queue at a single truck. Entry is free and parking across the campus is free too, which makes it an easy stop rather than an expedition; the busway station sits on the site if you would rather not drive. Dogs on leads are welcome. It is flat, wide and pram-friendly throughout.
