MadLoop Windsurfing & SUP
Perched at the water's edge in Sylvan Park on the shores of Lake Pupuke, Madloop has been putting Aucklanders on the water since 1993. What it is
The lake setting keeps things sheltered and approachable for first-timers. All equipment is provided, so families just need to turn up with togs and a towel. Madloop also offers Hobie cat and Laser sailing, giving older kids and parents a range of ways to get moving on the water.
It suits school-age children and teenagers with a taste for wind sports, as well as parents who fancy having a go themselves. The school's long-running community of returning students says something about the quality of the teaching.
What other parents say
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Best wingfoil lessons in Auckland — highly recommended! Alan and his team at Madloop Windsurf School are simply outstanding. Alan and his son Matthew are not only incredibly talented windsurfers and foilers themselves, but also gifted, patient teachers who stay right by your side throughout every lesson. I had tried to learn wingfoiling on my own before, but only made real progress once I started taking lessons with Alan. Within just two months I advanced enormously — and my son picked up windsurfing almost as a side note! The pricing is very fair, especially the 5-hour package, which offers excellent value for money. If you’re serious about learning wingfoiling or windsurfing, don’t waste time struggling alone — book with Madloop. You won’t regret it! Thanks Alan!
As an intermediate wing foiler from Europe, I made a material rental for a session in Lake Pupuke with madloop a few days a ago. Alan set me up with the right setup for my level of expertise and the wind conditions, which shows he knows what he is doing and listens to his customers. We also had a very nice chat with Alan which is clearly very driven and knowledgeable in the wing foil sports.

The Madloops team are amazing. Been taking lessons for a few years with Alan and his team. Super knowledgeable on all things related to wind sports but especially wing foiling. The trainers are patient and not only focused on the basics of the sport but also help you adapt these to fit your own bodies capabilities.
Amazing time - we have done the 4 day school holiday program last 2 years with my children ages from around 10-14yo. Kids thoroughly enjoyed and was a real confidence builder to get out onto the water and learn how to sail along with really great coaches - was also a real positive vibe out there - Allen has all the equipment, great sails, wetsuits everything! Highly recommend.
Alan and his family are passionate watermen and women. The lake is a great spot to learn wingfoil. Got a wow moment thanks to Matt who is very didactic. The gears were brand new - Fone. Highly recommend.
