What it is

Kaipātiki Hot Springs sits in the Parakai township, drawing on geothermal waters known to local Ngāti Whātua ki Kaipara as Te Awa Kahawai. Naturally heated from the earth's core and rich in minerals, the water is the real draw — warm enough to soothe tired muscles, lively enough to keep children occupied for hours.

Tamariki tend to make a beeline for the two long, twisting hydro-slides that send riders splashing into the pool below. Younger ones wade in via the outdoor pool's sloped beach entry, while a 40°C indoor pool keeps things comfortable year-round. Parents after a quieter soak can book a private thermal pool tucked among native pongas and landscaped gardens, or retreat to an infrared sauna.

The site also has a café, BBQ areas, marquee hire, and grassed event spaces — practical infrastructure that makes a full-day visit straightforward. A learn-to-swim programme, Swim Tangaroa, runs on site for families wanting to build water safety skills alongside the fun.

We had a great day, having now been there though, next time would take a picnic blanket, and plenty of food and drinks and make a real day of it. Others had hired the bbq’s and clearly had it sorted and new what they we doing - full set ups to spend the day there. Still though, we were there on a sunny as day, and lasted 5 hours with swimming, slides and ice creams. The two slides were great, enough to give a good thrill, but not to much. Noticed on the way out we could have gotten stamped and gone out for lunch and then come back in again.

Used to come here as a kid up until my teens. First time back here in ages. Lots of tiles missing in the outdoor pool. Changing rooms aren't very private as its all open and divided by walls but no locked doors. Showers aren't good either. Tables aren't very steady. Great place but needs an upgrade.

Lovely afternoon spent here with two heated pools and even a fun water slide even adults can enjoy!

Pretty awesome hydroslide which makes the 45 minute drive from auckland worth it, if you are looking to let out ur inner child then this is the place. As for the other pools, the main hotpool can get pretty full, but there's a rock pool outside which is Stella as it's 18+ so it's alittle more secluded. There is great seating in the rockpool which makes the exsperience quite relaxing, however in the indoor pool there isn't quite as many options. I would mist definetly go back for the hydroslide, which u ride mats down.
