Weekend Market

Sandringham Friendship Market

The Sandringham Friendship Market is a weekly indoor market held at the local community centre, and it is exactly the size its name suggests — a hall of stalls rather than a street of them. Sellers bring gifts, toys, children's clothing and household bits and pieces, and there is tea, coffee and something to eat set up alongside for people who come as much for the company as the shopping.

What it is

It runs on a Thursday, which makes it a weekday option rather than a weekend one, and that shapes who it suits: parents at home with a toddler or a preschooler, who want somewhere warm and low-key to spend part of a morning. Being indoors, it is unaffected by the weather, and the scale means a family can walk the whole thing without a plan. It is a neighbourhood fixture rather than a destination, and worth knowing about if you live nearby.

Great venue for kids party! Suitable rain or shine. Fantastic fenced playground and plenty of space with a kitchen and both kids and grown up bathrooms. You have to pack everything in and out but with plenty of helpers it makes light work. Highly recommended for 8 and under. Worth checking out!

The sandringham community centre harbours the "The free little library" out front; a monument of long lasting shared efforts of sandringham and a representation of what all communities should have. It also serves as a pataka kai and a shelter to hang at while on your walk. Arohanui

A bit old, but good for those cozy small gatherings. Very handy to Sandringham food safari right outside. Good space for kids to do their thing in enclosed play area. Several very small rooms for small gatherings.

Very small community centre. To celebrate a Birthday of 30 people best option or to have a meeting. There are three rooms and a kitchenette
