What it is
Sleeping inside a national stadium is the kind of story kids tell for years. Eden Park's glamping domes are perched in the north-east corner of the ground, each one looking out over the turf where All Blacks and Black Caps have played. Inside, guests find a queen-sized bed, private bathroom with shower, Dyson heating and air conditioning, a 55-inch television, mini-fridge, microwave, and complimentary Wi-Fi — a proper overnight stay rather than a novelty tent.
Every booking includes a behind-the-scenes stadium tour led by expert historians, taking guests through the home team changing rooms and coaches box and out onto the field itself. On game days the domes become a front-row seat, with tickets and parking available as part of a separate match-day package.
Children are welcome, though the domes sleep on a queen bed only and no extra bedding can be added, so it suits families who are comfortable sharing. The Kingsland neighbourhood sits right on the doorstep, with the Mount Eden volcano walk and a short train ride to the CBD rounding out the stay.
What other parents say
What an experience, staying the night at an iconic stadium, highly recommended, we sat in the stadium seats and watched the sun go down and woke up to stunning views of the ground. Came with a stadium tour. Being allowed in/out it meant popping into Kingsland for a drink/meal then relaxing in style, definitely do again
What an amazing experience being possibly the only people inside a huge stadium. The views are amazing over the duration of your stay. The chance to do the tour of the stadium and see the hidden secrets is a great addition. The ability to get in and out for food is a great asset. The communication is great while organizing. Must do
