Young Gallery Night

Young Gallery Night takes over Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tāmaki for an evening of live art, performance, and making. DJ Empress Naima spins vinyl throughout, while live figure drawing offers a chance to watch — or join — the creative process in real time. Dance performances from the University of Auckland Waipapa Taumata Rau take the stage twice across the evening, and Whitecliffe final-year students present a fashion showcase.

Workshops run through much of the evening, with a scratch film workshop, a printing workshop, and a live video soundscape performance all on offer. The Pat Hanly Creativity Awards exhibition is also open, displaying original works by Year 12 and Year 13 students — worth a wander for families curious to see what young artists are making right now.
