Spoken Word: Rangatahi Writing Workshop
What it is
A spoken word workshop at Tupu Youth Library invites rangatahi aged 12 and up to explore poetry, rap and storytelling in an open, welcoming space. Facilitated by South Auckland duo Luani Nansen and Koko, the session guides participants through different forms of spoken word expression, helping them develop their creative voice and craft pieces that carry real weight. No prior experience is needed, and all materials and light refreshments are provided.
Luani Nansen is a DJ, spoken word poet and youth worker whose practice blends music, storytelling and community connection. Koko is a queer Pasifika poet from Upolu, Samoa and Niue, a WTFL alumna and Grand Slam finalist whose work draws on identity, diaspora and the joy of her people. Together they bring both craft and lived experience to the room.
The event is part of We Read Auckland / Ka Pānui Tātou i Tāmaki Makaurau, presented by Auckland Council Libraries.
