What it is

The "A Taste of Segway" ride, which runs for an hour and a half, takes in the Devonport waterfront and rolls out to Cheltenham Beach, where Rangitoto rises out of the Waitematā. Older children and teenagers can join the three-hour Historic North Head tour, which climbs to the summit of Maungauika to explore the fort built to guard Auckland against a feared Russian invasion in the 1880s. Both tours are capped at six participants and depart from the Devonport Ferry Terminal.

The minimum age is ten for the shorter ride and thirteen for North Head, making this a good fit for families with older kids rather than little ones. Tours are rated excellent on TripAdvisor, and guides handle nervous novices with patience.

Agnes and I had a very wonderful time on this Segway tour to Mt Victoria with Pauline the owner operator and guide! Pauline was gave us a lot of excellent commentary during the tour, she also made sure Agnes was comfortable and knowledgeable to ride the Segway being her first time. We both loved the experience and highly recommend Pauline's Magic Broomstick Segway Tours to both novices and experienced riders.

My two friends and I did the Segway tour with Pauline. It was an amazing experience. She took the time to train us up on the segways before embarking on a wonderful tour of the town, stopping for photos and detailed historical recounts from Pauline. She was very patient of us when we reached the top of the mountain as we took photos and explored the canon. This is a “must do” experience in Devonport!

This is a must do SUPER FUN activity in beautiful Devonport. Pauline is just the most wonderful and interesting guide and she was an intuitive and patient teacher. We had never Segwayed before and after some clear and clever guidance from Pauline we were off on our adventure. We learnt so much about the area, the interesting houses, history and stunning views. Segways are a lot different to e scooters - the whole process is unique. This is something you must try and I have to say with Pauline and in Devonport you can’t go wrong!! Thanks Pauline

This is the third Segway adventure we have experienced in New Zealand. The first 2 were in Queenstown. This one was far the best by instruction, tuition, safety, and detail of information on the tour. A very comprehensive service. Highly recommended.
