What it is

Tūrama is a stunning, award-winning free light installation that brings the story of Waihorotiu to life along Queen Street. Created by Graham Tipene, Ataahua Papa, and Angus Muir Design with Phil Wihongi, the artwork traces the path of the ancient waterway that once flowed beneath the city, weaving together Māori history and the modern urban landscape.

Five unique artworks are dotted along Queen Street from Shortland Street up to Aotea Square, making it a wonderful self-guided family walk. For the best experience, head out between 6pm and 7:30pm when it's dark enough for the lights to truly shine, but not too late for little ones.
