Celebrate Matariki at Howick Historical Village with a special Live Day honouring the New Zealand Māori New Year — a time to reflect on the past, appreciate the present, and look towards the future.
Craft your own pounamu piece guided by Christopher Mitch, an Auckland-based accredited Ngāi Tahu carver, and his wife Emma. Using ethically sourced stone from Chris's workshop, you'll shape, sand, polish, and string your taonga — all while sharing kōrero and learning about traditional carving practices rooted in tikanga.
