About
Squish! Bang! Splat! is a two-day event at MOTAT built around the noisy, messy overlap of science, music and art. Little Scientists take the stage outside Te Puawānanga for live science shows on the hour from 11am, while inside the centre, hosts run hands-on science experiments between sessions. Rhythm for the Soul and Pacific Log Drumming bring live drummers and dancers to the mix, and kids can have a go on a log drum themselves.
For those who want to make noise of a different kind, the percussion wall and rain drums invite plenty of exploration. On the quieter side, Rainbow Rascals offers wax hand moulds, a water balloon catapult and splatter painting on a canvas to take home.
The event is recommended for kids aged 7–12 and is included in general admission. Families can extend the day with the Accelerate vehicle exhibition, the MOTAT Aviation Hall and heritage tram rides across the two sites.
