What it is

Hundreds of fluffy, fabulous guinea pigs descend on Waimauku Hall for a day that kids will be talking about for weeks. The Auckland Cavy Club's Mega Pet Show is a relaxed, welcoming day out where families can watch purebred cavies compete for Best in Show, meet expert breeders, and get up close with some seriously cute critters.

The real magic for kids? The pet show classes — think Craziest Hair, Wonderful Whiskers, Silkiest Coat, Owner Look-Alike, and a themed Fancy Dress competition. Got your own guinea pig at home? Bring them along and enter on the day — no experience needed, just turn up before the cut-off. Ribbons, certificates, and prizes up for grabs.
