What it is

Good Planet is a working berry farm in Riverhead that packs a full day into one destination. Families climb aboard a small train that chugs out to the fields every twenty minutes or so, where strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, and blueberries are there for the picking. The café serves a seasonal menu of breakfast, brunch, and lunch alongside fresh-baked goods and good coffee — the full menu is Halal — while the ice cream shop turns farm-grown berries into real-fruit ice creams, smoothies, and milkshakes.

Beyond the fields, children can clamber through an inflatable maze, launch themselves off a bungee trampoline, scale an inflatable rock wall, or hurtle down the mega slide. A dedicated splash park caters to children up to twelve, with multiple sessions each day. Spacious lawn areas give grown-ups a place to settle with a picnic while the kids work through the obstacles.

Good Planet suits families with a range of ages and works well for birthday parties and group outings, with catering options available alongside the pick-your-own and park activities.

Good Planet is the ultimate spot for strawberry lovers! I definitely had my fill while picking—the berries were incredibly sweet and juicy. I also managed to bring home a massive haul, which has been perfect for fresh snacks and my morning smoothies. It’s such a wonderful, fun day out with a lovely atmosphere. A must-visit for a fruity treat!

Delicious strawberries! 5NZD per person entry and if you want you can add a box (different sizes) to bring home. We chose the largest box (about 2kg) and picked our strawberries. They have a shuttle bus that will bring you to the strawberry field. Kind staff and well maintained facilities. Even the toilets were clean. Definitely an activity you want to do as a family.

Great place for families and kids! The café is nice, and the strawberry picking experience was really enjoyable. They organised the Easter egg hunt very well—my son absolutely loved it. Overall, a fantastic experience and highly recommended!

We arrived around 9:30am after the farm opened and, although there were already quite a few people picking strawberries, it didn’t feel crowded as the place is very spacious. The strawberries were very fresh and large, though not very sweet. The free train is a great bonus for kids, got enough seating spots, so we don’t even need to wait. The ice cream is refreshing and fruity rather than overly creamy or sweet, and the regular size ($6.70) is generous enough for one adult. There are plenty of outdoor tables with umbrellas, and the adventure park is available for an extra, very reasonable fee. Overall, it’s a calm, safe, and enjoyable place for families with young children.

The fields are huge and the fruit is top quality. Love the eat while you pick, it makes the entry fee totally worth it. The staff are friendly, and their strawberry ice cream is a must-try. Definitely our new annual tradition!
