What it is

Horse Riding Warkworth takes riders of all ages and abilities through farm and forest on the northern fringe of Auckland. The landscape does the heavy lifting — open pasture giving way to bush — and the rides run for either one or two hours, making it easy to fit around a wider day out in the Matakana or Warkworth area.

very lovely people! thank you heather, christina and roger for the amazing hospitality; they picked me up from the bus stop and even sent me to the honey centre + paknsave. horses were very cute. i rode Secret and he was strong! nice view at the top of the hills, and you get to trot and canter, both very enjoyable. do visit this place!

We had an awesome experience at Warkworth Horse Riding! The property is huge and beautiful, making the ride even more enjoyable. The team was fantastic—especially Heather, Meena, Hannah, and Lara—who were all friendly and very helpful. Zion is a very nice horse, for a beginner I was even taught how to trot. Highly recommend this experience!

Went here today for a 1 hour horse trek and had such an amazing experience the horse are taken care of really well. The ride itself is amazing and you get a chance to trot and canter if you’re feeling up to it and confident. Best of all is me and the person who I went with had a leader with us and she was AMAZING! She made the ride so much more enjoyable so shout out to Paige! Loved this place would definitely come back!

Such an awesome experience today. The staff were super kind and welcoming, and really made our day really enjoyable. It was my daughter’s birthday and they made it feel so special - happily helping us take photos and making sure she had the best time. The ride itself was great, and even the more experienced rider in our group got the chance to canter through the forest, which was a real highlight. Beautiful spot, lovely horses, and an amazing team. Would absolutely come back 👍

Two words: Absolutely amazing! We immensely enjoyed our one-hour horse trek today at Horse Riding Warkworth. Heather, Lara, and their team were very welcoming and accommodating. They received us warmly and took us through the initial safety and riding instructions before embarking on a wonderful track through fields and forest. The horses were gorgeous and well behaved. The team kept us engaged throughout the trek, keeping an eye on everyone while also socialising, which made the experience both relaxed and entertaining. What sets this experience apart from other horse riding options in Auckland is that the team encouraged us to try more activities with the horses, such as trotting and manoeuvring. They even went out of their way to take photos and videos of us, which we really appreciated. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience. It’s easily accessible from the motorway and a must for anyone visiting or living in Auckland. We will certainly be back. Thank you, team!
