Whānau Day at Te Pou Theatre

Te Pou Theatre's Whānau Day is a free community celebration filling every corner of Corban Estate Arts Centre with storytelling in its many forms. Outside, market stalls offer arts, crafts and kai alongside live DJs and performances from Tāmaki-based Māori and Pacific artists. Inside, the Tokomanawa Theatre hosts The Dust Palace, Maie Sitete, theatre for tamariki, interactive dance, and a special performance from Atamira Dance Company.

The intimate Tāhū studio becomes a storytelling grove, with bestselling author Hinemoa Elder among the performers and a dedicated sensory experience for pēpi and their caregivers. Elsewhere, kids can get creative with free arts and crafts or queue up for face painting with Face Fatale (a koha for the artists is welcome).

Part of Te Pou Theatre's Kōanga Festival, Whānau Day is a five-hour programme that sends whānau of all ages home having clamoured through performances, workshops and kai across the whole estate.
