EcoMatters Bike Hubs
Spread across nine locations from Forrest Hill to Manukau, EcoMatters Bike Hubs are friendly, face-to-face spots where staff and volunteers help Aucklanders get onto bikes without spending a lot. Kids can watch a puncture get fixed, parents can browse a regularly changing stock of restored and safety-checked second-hand bikes, and anyone who hasn't ridden in years can get a quiet word of encouragement before heading out.

What it is
Each hub offers free access to tools and advice on basic maintenance, plus used and new parts — cables, brake pads, tubes, chains — available to purchase. Seven hubs also run a free two-week ebike loan programme, handy for families weighing up whether a cargo or commuter ebike might change their daily routine.
The operation has welcomed more than 100,000 visitors and helped fix over 32,000 bikes since 2017. Donated bikes in reasonable condition are always welcome, keeping serviceable rides out of landfill and back on Auckland's paths.
