Children move through the steps in order — choosing the unstuffed bear, filling it, adding a heart, giving it a name — and staff walk them through each one, so even quite young children can do the work themselves rather than watch an adult do it for them.

What it is

Outfits and accessories are chosen at the end, and a small recorder can be sewn in so the bear carries a voice. The whole thing takes long enough to feel like an event and not so long that a toddler runs out of patience, which is why it turns up so often as a birthday treat.

Being inside Sylvia Park, it works as the anchor of a wet-weather afternoon rather than a trip on its own.

I had such a great experience shopping for a gift at Build-A-Bear today! I was served by Mikaia, and she was absolutely amazing—so friendly, patient, and genuinely helpful throughout the whole process. She made everything easy and fun, and I really appreciated the care she put into making sure I left with exactly what I needed. Definitely a 10/10 experience thanks to her. I’ll be back for sure!

Such a wonderful experience. I got a build a bear for my daughters birthday into which she recorded my father's voice. She misses her grandfather every single day and this is such a lovely gift for her. The whole experience of adding a heart the voice message is magical. It is affordable too unless you go for a lot of accessories. There is a cons8derable amount of wait time as this place is quite popular among kids as well as adults. Thank you build a bear

Great Experience but you need to budget for this way ahead of time. My daughter’s 6th bday so price wasn’t an issue as I had already done my pricing/budget online months ahead. I put aside $200 so she can get a few outfits for her teddy and any other extra accessories if needed. Spent $167 in this shop. Build a teddy, clothes and a chair bed. (See receipt) Best birthday present ever my little one said so this was definitely worth it. I’m not a big spender and this was 🤯 but I was prepared! 👍🏽 Team was great and we were guided through the whole experience, my highlight is the recording we got to put into the bear as my little one can listen to her affirmations. Little one got to make her bear and printed out a certificate at the end. Highly recommend

What amazing service, I wasn’t sure how to go about ordering one online with a sound button and how it would all work when delivered, rang the store and the lady on the phone was absolutely amazing and so very helpful telling me how to order using the notes on the order. I placed the order and got a call a few days later from another wonderful lady just checking if I want the bear stuffed, unstuffed, sound button out or in the bear. It was such wonderful service for something very special for my friend! Absolutely will buy again from this store when I need too!!! 10/10
