What it is
Celebrate Matariki at the New Zealand Maritime Museum by making your very own kauī whetū — a woven star — in this wonderful whānau-friendly activity. Guided by the expertise of Whatu Creative, little ones and grown-ups alike can explore the rich symbolism of the moana through traditional Māori weaving techniques.
Set amongst the museum's fascinating maritime heritage right at the water's edge, it's a meaningful and hands-on way to honour the Matariki season together as a family.
