What it is

Wriggle and Rhyme is a community-led programme running out of Pukekohe and Waiuku libraries, designed to get babies and young children moving through music. Each 30-minute session explores a variety of songs chosen to promote active movement and support early brain development.

The facilitator leads easy, repetitive routines — the kind that build confidence in parents as much as coordination in little ones — and the sessions are deliberately social, fostering connections between families through shared interactions.

Te reo Māori is woven throughout, giving children and caregivers alike a gentle introduction to Te ao Māori culture, language and learning alongside the movement and music.
